    EGATS

    eGATS 2011

eGATS is an online gifted and talented program with the motto, ‘Grow, Fly, Shine’. This program is currently running at South High. Its concept has been developed by a committee of teachers, principals, consultants and an academic mentor in the Western NSW Region. South Grafton High School fully supports this program and encourages our students to be involved. This outstanding program is designed to extend our most creative students and enrich their learning experiences. It currently runs throughout the North Coast region and only 50 students from the area are selected to be involved. This year four of our star Year 7 students were selected.

    In the students’ own words:

“The four of us have worked very hard this semester on various tasks which include a puzzling presentation on optical illusions, a movie about extra-terrestrial life, an explanation of the emotion associated with colour and a piece on the flight of humans.

eGATS has been a great experience and has taught us a lot. We have learnt how to present things differently and display our work better. We have also learnt a lot about online education and cyber learning. eGATS has greatly improved our learning experiences and has also taught us great time management skills.”

The program culminates in the EXPO Day at Woolgoolga Primary School.

Students interested in participating in this program next year should contact Miss Adam in the English faculty.
